Audit & Assurance Specialist
A statutory audit becomes likely when your company exceeds 2 of 3 thresholds: ยฃ15m turnover, ยฃ7.5m balance sheet, or 50 employees. Even below these, lenders or investors may require audited accounts.
At this level an audit is usually NOT mandatory โ most companies under ยฃ15m turnover are exempt. However, some still require one (lender conditions, shareholder requests, or articles of association). Full audit in accordance with ISA standards, audit report, and directors' meeting to discuss findings.
Companies at this scale are usually still below the mandatory threshold but should review annually. Some choose a voluntary audit for credibility with lenders or investors. Full audit fieldwork, controls testing, management letter, and directors' meeting included.
Approaching the mandatory threshold. An audit becomes legally required if your company meets at least 2 of 3 conditions: over ยฃ15m turnover, over ยฃ7.5m balance sheet, or more than 50 employees. Senior-led bespoke engagement.
